3D CAMPGROUND

Studio work of office design in mobility studio

2019.06, UCLA March.2
Academic work, Cooperative work, Contribution: All
Collaborator: Kemou Nie; Nathan Adams

3D CAMPGROUND is organized by a Light Mobility Route along Footpaths into and through the building. These ramps deliver workers to individual office campsites with different topographies and character. Campsites contain campfires (amenities) and camps (work areas).

The need for a porte-cochere and front door disappears as transportation can be called to specific locations vertically in the building. Ramps connect Light Mobility between different floor levels locally and at a leisurely speed while Foot Paths move between campsites for quick access to the above and below.

3D CAMPGROUND reinserts nature into workers lives by merging natural elements with architectural components.

ENVIRONMENT

We use different structures to design four nature environment: Cave, Canyon, Mountains and Forest.

CIRCULATION

Formally, The 3d campground can be divided into two parts: The Parking structure and the office. The office is organized by two types of circulation, one being the ramp for light mobility and pedestrian flow which passes through the amenities in each layer, The other one is a secondary circulation for pedestrians to quickly access each floor above or below.

WORK STYLE

We have different work style at different levels. Each level has its own workspace and amenities. The amenities along the main ramp connect people to different levels. This encourages people to explore above and below.
